Job Description

Join a long-established, growth-focused electrical contractor working on new construction projects across the greater Nashville area. In this role, you install, maintain, and troubleshoot commercial electrical systems, using your experience with blueprints, conduit bending, and wiring to deliver safe, code-compliant installations for facilities such as training centers and other large commercial buildings.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret electrical blueprints to plan and execute wiring layouts for lighting, intercom, fire alarm, and other electrical systems in commercial new construction projects.
  • Install electrical devices and fixtures including switches, circuit-breaker panels, fire alarm systems, receptacles, and lighting in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and company standards.
  • Pull electrical wire and cable throughout commercial structures, ensuring proper routing, labeling, and termination.
  • Bend and install EMT and rigid conduit, including layout, measurement, cutting, and secure mounting to support wiring systems.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues, diagnose faults, and perform repairs or replacements of wires, devices, and components to restore proper operation.
  • Inspect existing and newly installed wiring and electrical components to verify safety, functionality, and compliance with NEC and project specifications.
  • Collaborate with other electricians and trades on job sites to coordinate installations and maintain safe, efficient workflows.
  • Follow all safety procedures and job site rules, including OSHA 10 requirements, and use appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to hours worked, tasks completed, and any apprenticeship or training records as required.
  • Drive to various job sites in the greater Nashville area as needed, using a valid driver’s license and adhering to company driving policies.

Essential Skills

  • At least 4 years of commercial electrical experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints accurately.
  • Proven experience bending and installing EMT conduit.
  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and electrical theory.
  • Strong troubleshooting abilities for commercial electrical systems.
  • Experience with wiring installation, inspection, and replacement.
  • Experience working with rigid conduit in commercial environments.
  • OSHA 10 certification (required to work on the job site; may be obtained during orientation if not already held).
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Journeyman electrician certification or Journeyman card is a plus but not required.
  • CPR and First Aid training are preferred.
  • Formal electrical education or apprenticeship experience is beneficial.
  • Experience on large-scale commercial new construction projects.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and code compliance.

Work Environment

This role is based on commercial new construction projects in the greater Nashville area, including facilities such as a police training center near John C. Tune Airport. You work Monday through Friday on first shift, typically starting between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. and working around 8 hours per day, with the expectation of being open to overtime during the week and occasional Saturday work as project needs arise. The environment is field-based on active construction sites, requiring adherence to OSHA 10 safety standards and consistent use of appropriate protective gear. You work with electrical tools and equipment related to wiring, conduit bending, and installation of commercial systems, collaborating closely with other trades in a structured, safety-conscious setting.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $31.00 - $35.00/hr.
